“Is that religious conviction, Elphie, that you keep yourself so dry?” said Boq
“I’ve told you before, I don’t comprehend religion, although conviction is a concept I’m beginning to get. In any case, someone with a real religious conviction is, I propose, a religious convict, and deserves locking up.”

    Valerie Bertinelli

    Jul 1st, 2010 by craig

Remember Valerie Bertinelli?  Unless you were comatose, you had to have had at least some level of crush on her in your youth.  She was one of the stars of “One Day at a Time.”  She was the cute, non-addicted one.  Of course, that she married Eddie Van Halen only made her more appealing.  For some time she’s been selling us on the virtues of the Jenny Craig diet plan.
So, my latest sign of the apocalypse:  This month Valerie Bertinelli is on the cover of the AARP magazine.

(I’m still not going to join the AARP….until I’m actually old….which I’m not….despite their regular offers….which have been coming to me for several years now.)

It’s not fair. I didn’t look half as good in my 20s as she does at 50. I doubt my charm and good looks have any chance of catching up to her when she is 70….

We can’t really all be this old, can we?

This is just wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong. We’re not that old!

She looks incredible. I can only hope I can look that good at her age- without surgery.

Ha ha ha… “Valerie Who.” Back in the 90s I was talking to a young co-worker.. he was 19. And I mentioned Carly Simon, and he said, “Who?” And I just laughed… and I replied, ‘She was the Madonna of the 70s.”

I felt old then… But seeing Valerie on the AARP magazine really brings it home. That and the bald spot on the crown of my head…

      Where did the time go?

Oh and I’ve actually encountered younger people today who have never heard of Jaclyn Smith… Jaclyn Smith!!! I mean, have they never been to K-Mart. I realize the original Charlie’s Angels are no longer being played, but she is still around and looking terrific at 64. You know she was only 32 when Charlies Angels started..
