    Stephen Colbert and Rush

    Jul 17th, 2008 by craig

colbert_logo.gifDespite his own opinion, Stephen Colbert will always be a second to Jon Stewart.  However, last night he was at the top of my list: he had Rush on as guests.  It was alot of fun, Stephen had a great time giving his producer grief – or was his producer giving Stephen grief? – about how big a Rush fan the producer is.  One of my favorite moments was when the producer asked Rush “will you sign my host?”rush-wallpaper10_1024×768.jpg

This is the first time Rush has been on US television in over 30 years, and Stephen did a good job giving them their due (did you know that Rush is 4th on the list of all time gold and platinum record certifications?).

You can see the whole show (and there’s enough Rush throughout that I think the whole show is worth watching) at:

What a happy, momentus day at the Cottle household! Did the kids stay up late to watch?

First I would like to suggest one correction, it’s no biggy but Colbert was getting grief from his Director, not his producer. (He’s his own producer along with Jon Stewart and others)
Anyway when I saw the begining of the show I immediately thought of you guys. I agree he did a good job, and I like how he ended the show and then started the show last night. I didn’t know Rush had such long songs. I can only hope we have as good a show when we go to New York. Colbert Rocks! (sorry I like him better than Jon Steward, not that he’s not good)

Colbert is very funny, but Jon Stewart is a god.

I agree Jon Stewart does say a lot with just a look, but I don’t know I just like Stephen Colbert more. Maybe it’s because I’m more on a conservative side of things, maybe it’s the way Colbert acts so sure of what he’s saying even when it’s got it’s obvious flaws, maybe it’s how ridiculous he can be when talking about things. I don’t know. Regardless, to each his own I guess. But never the less, I still tape both shows every night so I can watch them the next morning. Those are two of my favorite shows.

I think you’ve got that right. Colbert is definitely sillier than Jon Stewart. I still like both of them tho. You are however lucky that they start @ 11, I have to wait for them to come on @ Midnight, which means over @ 1am or I just tape them and that’s old school, VSH baby. I wish I could afford a DVR but I had to almost force basic cable on my roommates, so I guess that will have to do for now.
